![]() ini, doesn't make a bloody difference on system stress. And yeah, low/high settings, whatever settings in the. Yet my comp goes like ''is this crysis 4, HR texture pack, AAx32, 2560x1600, etc etc *Sound the alarm, systems at max capacity!*''įor a game that doesn't even look half decent, lol. Funny thing is it's probably the one that should use the less ressources out of all of them. I too play a bunch of games on insane graphic stress and none are causing me problems, just this one. It seems the higher the fps your comp can output, the less smooth it runs, go figure. You'll need a decent HDD if you don't want to erase the footage every 5 minutes, but it does the trick, untill they fix whatever is broken in the code. If you can think of another explanation that would fit this findings, I'd be happy to hear it.Īs it turns out you could play tor on a crappy laptop without any issues (for the most part), but as soon as you put in a beast computer it's like the game can't handle it.Ī simple fix i found, altho it is clunky, is to run fraps whenever you want to play, set the record to 30fps, and record all the time. This is a GTX 560Ti that should have no problem with this game even on high settings. I've also tried playing this game with graphics on "low", and I even tried drastically UNDERclocking my card to minimize heat generation, and it still runs into some condition that causes it to suddenly skyrocket and overheat. There is no plausible explanation except that it is something in the SWTOR code that is causing it. It does it *consistently*, while all other software works fine *consistently*. SWTOR is the *only* software that produces this kind of overheating. "Torture Tests" designed to maximally stress components of the graphics system don't produce this kind of overheating, and as he points out, neither do games that put dramatically more stress on the GPU. SWTOR will run fine for a while - sometimes a couple of hours, sometimes 5 minutes, and when monitoring my GPU temp I will see it suddenly start climbing about 1 deg/sec until it hits 105 degrees and the system locks up. I can run a graphics "torture test" for hours on my rig with no overheating. Be that due to lack of cooling or dust clogged up in the heatsink.Ĭheck my posts in "System Locks Up" thread. If any component in your system is overheating, it's not getting cooled properly. The fact that WoW and Skyrim don't do this only means they're not using your CPU/GPU enough to make the temperatures raise so high. The only thing it can do is stress components so heavily that they overheat themselves. I can reproduce this behavior on another PC in another part of my house with a single video card from one generation ago.ĭoes that CLARIFY for you what I mean and what I have already done to validate my assumptions? Two games of vastly differing technical demands should not generate the opposite of what one would logically expect in the way of temperature increases.Ī game doesn't have overheating as a function. Skyrim on INSANE should generate WAY more heat than this game (which didn't even support AA till recently) does ON LOW. ![]() If you knew anything about the games in question you would know that this game doesn't call nearly the video subystem muscle up that Skyrim does. I have tried the game with LOW settings and LOW res and the temp still climbs like mad. Others have posted that since the patch from a day or two ago the game engine will drive their GPU temps way up and then the game or the system will lockup and crash. ![]() The PC is perfectly clean inside and out, is only 3 months old and has so much air flow I can blow dry my hair by lying down behind the PC. I am well aware of what does and does not cause overheating issues.
